Powerful Hammer: This person, much like a hammer, exhibits strong personality characteristics which can get the job done, or cause a significant amount of damage! The "Hammer Personality" needs to understand that the one who holds the hammer should be careful when using it. You can build or destroy with it. Others likely see you as more powerful than you realize.
The Versatile Swiss Army Knife personality is flexible and spontaneous, quickly adapting to most any situation. Every problem has a solution, and expect to see creative thinking produce a clever and industrious plan. However, others can (at times) see a person who throws caution to the wind. |

The Precision Tape Measure likes to ""get it right" and seems to have a secret rule book in the back of their mind. Rules are very important, and solutions to problems will be very precise. However, others may become exasperated when they are expected to comply with these methods. Learning to be flexible and open to how others view situations is necessary, but certainly not sought by this class of personality.
Personality types are often blended. Someone could be a Swiss Army Knife/Duct Tape, or perhaps a Duct Tape/Hammer, or a Tape Measure/Swiss Army Knife, or just about any combination. Workstyles presents this on a four-point graph as shown. This graph shows a dominance toward the Swiss Army Knife, with lesser but equal indicators toward the Hammer and the Duct Tape
The graphed portion in the grey box reflects values that, while part of the individual's personality makeup, are not significant to the point of classification. Everyone has these characteristics to one degree or another. When the trait is sufficient to rank outside of the grey area, it is noted in their personality type. The profile on the left could be classified as a Hammer, while the one on the right is a Swiss Army Knife/Hammer/Duct Tape, because three characteristics are ranking on the scale. |
