More than a Personality Assessment Tool!

It's called Psychometrics — but that's just a way of saying this instrument is scientific rather than being a simple personality survey. It isn't a test, because there are really no incorrect answers, provided that an individual participates with the intent to be honest.

MinistryStyles is just getting started where other tools stop. When you do your Personality Profile, it goes far beyond the question, "So what?" MinistryStyles is a practical tool that measures who you are, and then provides a systematic report that can be easily compared to the Portraits (or profiles) of others, and then matched, grouped, or even layered to demonstrate group dynamics as well as individuality. So in a nutshell, MinistryStyles is:

~ Eight Distinct Testing Methods Presented on Eleven different Graphs

~ One set of 200 questions renders a complete, accurate Portrait of your personality

~ Look for "peaks and valleys" on each graph. With just a little bit of analysis, you'll discover that each graph "informs" the information on the others. The results confirm the characteristic, or  where there are differences, they qualify the trait as being somewhat different in different settings.

~ Complete report included gives details that objectively describe each of the characteristics.

Rich Analysis Tools

~ See how you compare to others who have also taken a Visual Personality Portrait

~ Layer profiles for revealing group dynamics

~ Comparative results give enlightening insights for marriage partners

~ Grouping functions provide task group (or small group) participants

~Match learning styles and preferences to teaching style and traits of the leaders

~Build informed groups, seeking for balance and optimized strength performance

~ Do your Visual Personality Portrait from any PC, and make the results visible to others

    (portable data functions)

~ Discover areas of compatibility and complementary characteristics--many relationships

are more productive and satisfying where differences are noted and embraced

How Does it Work?

The process is simple, but does take a bit of explanation:
Users download the Portrait module onto any windows-based computer (sorry, Mac OS is not yet supported). After answering all of the questions, a small file (in *.TBA format) is moved to the desktop where it is easily located. Users then send an email to anyone who has the full version of MinistryStyles, where it is imported, graded, printed, and then sent back to the individual. It is also retained in the licensed version of MinistryStyles where a number of advanced comparisons can be made, as well as providing a broad analysis of those who have done their portrait.

By completing just one set of questions, a Visual Personality Profile presents information in a variety of different disciplines, including Personality, Personality Under Pressure, Processing Blueprint, Motivation, Conflict, Fundamental Needs, and Deductive Analysis.

These results are portable. a TBA file done just one time for either WorkStyles or MinistryStyles can be sent to an organization which uses either WorkStyles or MinistryStyles. The individual does not need to go to the business or organization, but can do their profile on any Windows-Based computer and then send the results by email attachment to anyone.

Please Don't Pigeon-Hole Me!

It is a valid concern that personality testing tends to put people in boxes, declaring what they are like and therefore how they behave. The truth is that we have enough things in common with others that these can be measured--if this were not so, we couldn't even communicate! But there are also profound differences, and this is what MinistryStyles illustrates: a Visual Personality Profile is designed to show fifty-four (54) distinct characteristics, and to show that there truly is no one exactly like someone else. However, looking at similarities as well as the differences helps us to gain a foothold in successful relationships. It is by celebrating the differences that we honor individuality; it is by recognizing the similarities that we hone our relationships.

What's in a Visual Personality Portrait?

A Visual Personality Portrait is eight distinct assessment instruments seamlessly packaged in one set of questions. The complete report gives details on more than fifty personality characteristics, and summarizes the entire process on one easy to read Summary Sheet. Some have taken to thinking of it as the Dashboard.

Primary Personality~Each of the graphs presented on this page is linked to an area with more information. Click on those where you may have an interest

The Summary Sheet presents an overview of the sixteen page report, providing information on Primary Personality, Personality Under Pressure, Motivation: How, Motivation: What, Conflict Analysis, Fundamental Needs, Processing Blueprint, and Deductive Analysis. Each of the images show here is a part of that Summary Sheet, and when viewed together provide a surprisingly clear and complete Portrait of the personality that it represents.Motivation 1: Why

The strength of MinistryStyles is not found in the individual disciplines examined, but rather, by presenting them together in visual format, it is easy to confirm or to qualify the results. For example, any of the Conflict Styles may present with any of the Personality Types, but by doing cross-comparisons of the various disciplines, we can arrive at a surprisingly accurate understanding of the dynamics involved in a wide range of situations.

Motivation 2: HowMany organizations find the Visual Personality Portrait to be a report on an individual that is information worth buying MinistryStyles to get--but then, they are surprised to discover the powerful analysis tools that are a part of the complete program.

Just by reading a few Visual Conflict ManagementPersonality Portraits, the average individual can gain the ability to understand at a glance what is revealed about personality. These reports are frequently reported as being far more information than the individual expected to receive, and we have never seen a report which, when taken seriously, has failed to provide a surprisingly accurate result.

Why is it Called Visual Personality?

Fundamental NeedsEven before someone has begun to understand what the various graphs mean, it is readily apparent that one summary sheet to the next demonstrates similarities and differences. Each graph displays what may be thought of as "peaks and valleys", where "Peaks" indicate that the individual is like this, while "Valleys" indicate that the individual is not like this. By presenting the characteristics in thDecision Making Stylee configurations shown, we can easily see how various characteristics influence one another. It is a fascinating exercise to examine the profiles in any defined group!

LifeStyles Christian High Schools (Test normed for 10th grade)

MinistryStyles helps provide a roadmap through a wide variety of pitfalls students encounter. Guidance counselors appreciate the predictive nature of MinistryStyles, indicating things students need to work on once they choose a direction for their lives. By having parents as well as students participate, there are often profound tendencies revealed.

LifeStyles Mission Boards

Easily identify the suitability of candidates for Missionary Service. Discover the dynamics in play within any given missions team, and thereby dramatically reduce the possibility of conflict within the team. Assignments can be made with a higher degree of confidence with a higher success rate within the team.

LifeStyles Pastors

By identifying the personality preferences of staff and volunteers, ministry tasks can be executed with a higher degree of efficiency while at the same time reducing the risk of burn-out. An awareness of the processing style of the congregation will very likely result in a more effective program at every level.

LifeStyles Church Administrators

Working with church staff and volunteers can be a challenge and not every issue is the result of personality characteristics. MinistryStylesÔ will,  however, result in more productive ministry teams and satisfied volunteers. While it is worthwhile to stretch people to sometimes move "out of their comfort zone", volunteers who are encouraged to work primarily with in their "zone" will be far more productive. By using the comparison tools to overlay the portraits of two or more group members, strengths, weaknesses, and a wide variety of other group dynamics are readily apparent to all participants.

LifeStyles Small Group Leaders

The grouping tools allow an otherwise unavailable look at arranging participants by matching the learning styles of the group to the teaching style and strengths of the leaders. Rather than assigning people solely on the bases of random selection or personal choice, it can be valuable to suggest the arrangements that maximize the experience for leaders and participants alike.

LifeStyles Individuals

Certainly one of the recognized strengths of MinistryStyles is its ability to accurately quantify personality information across a surprisingly wide array of characteristics. By combining seven complete assessments into just one set of questions, verification, adjustment, and validation of the information is much higher than expected. The resulting file is a valuable piece as a character reference for employment portfolios, as well as then allowing leaders in any group to which you belong recognize your strengths and needs at a dramatically accelerated rate.

LifeStyles Married Couples

MinistryStyles encourages both spouses to participate in the study, and by using the overlay comparison tools, strengths, weaknesses, and likely points of conflict become very clear. Most people report with great appreciation the dramatic benefits from simply knowing their spouse behaves the way they do because that is the way they are wired, rather than as a result of undesirable tendency. Note: there are still some people that act the way they do for undesirable reasons! However, that number is lower than imagined!

LifeStyles Engaged Couples

We are often asked whether prospective mates signal a good match or a poor one. It is our philosophy that if we can talk two people out of marrying, then we should. After all, if there isn't a compelling resolve to move forward, they likely are not ready.

More personalities can work in combination than many people expect. In fact, the personality types that won't fit together are usually selected against in the dating process anyway, so they won't be coming as potential mates.

When dating services and matching organizations identify potential matches, they typically work from the viewpoint of COMPATIBILITY. This is not the only measure of relationship success. There is a high number of successful relationships that are built on COMPLEMENTARY rather than COMPATIBLE characteristics. Couples are encouraged to maximize the strengths provided by their differences rather than staying in the safe area of those things they have in common.

MinistryStyles makes these complimentary strengths easily apparent, and this report is an exeptionally valuable piece of information for couples.
