Importing a Profile

To import a profile that has been sent to you, it must first be available on your computer somewhere. These are the necessary steps:

  1. Open the email that contains the attached profile.
  2. Click on the attachment.
  3. Save it to your computer. If you aren't sure where, we recommend saving it to your root folder, C:\ This part is up to you! Please remember where you save it! A default folder is fine such as your "My Documents" folder.
  1. Open the program.
  2. Recall an existing profile. (It doesn't matter which one you recall, but this is the only way to open the Profile screen.
  3. Choose Menu Option    File
  4. Choose Menu Option    Import Record
  5. MinistryStyles™ will return you to the screen where you select a profile to open. You will see the profile in the list of available profiles.
  6. That profile is now available for viewing, editing, grading, and printing, just as if it had been actually entered into the database on your computer.

Note: The Import and Export Utilities are very fast, and the file that is exported is quite small.

Importing a Profile

To import a profile that has been sent to you, it must first be available on your computer somewhere. These are the necessary steps:

In your Email Program:

  1. Open the email that contains the attached profile.
  2. Click on the attachment.
  3. Save it to your computer. If you aren't sure where, we recommend saving it to your root folder, C:\ This part is up to you, but please remember where you save it! A default folder is fine, such as your "My Documents" folder. (Tip: some people prefer to SAVE the profile to the DESKTOP (screen). From there you can move it or copy it to a special file or folder.)

In WorkStyles:

  1. Open WorkStyles by clicking on the green WorkStyles icon.
  2. Click on RECALL A PROFILE (It doesn't matter which one you recall, but this is the only way to open the Profile screen).
  3. Choose Menu Option File.
  4. Choose Menu Option Import Record.
  5. WorkStyles will return you to the screen where you select a profile to open. You will see it in the list of available profiles.
  6. That profile is now available for viewing, editing, grading, and printing, just as if it had been actually entered into the database on your computer.

Note: The Import and Export Utilities are very fast, and the file that is exported is quite small.

An ‘Import’ Shortcut

Some people really get excited about finding shortcuts to get the job done more quickly. If you are one of these people you will like this opportunity to import profiles quickly, especially if you have to do a lot of them at one time.

Let’s say that you are receiving 6 or 7 profiles to import that are now on your desktop (screen). Open WorkStyles. You will see either a basic menu or advanced menu. The basic menu has 5 options, and the advanced menu has 27 options in 7 sections. Find the advanced menu by clicking on the basic menu button in the lower left part of the menu screen. Once you have found the advanced menu, look for the Single Profile Action, then click on the Import Profile. Now you can choose which profile to import.

This option allows you to import many profiles by repeating the same action as above.
